Welcome to the Apothecary Atl Blog

Welcome to the Apothecary Atl Blog! We hope to provide you with more information on Cannabidiol (CBD), hemp, and our products as time goes on and as more research is published. Today, I want to talk about the basics of our store, our goals for you, and the answers to your basic questions.

Apothecary Atl's ultimate goal is to help you incorporate CBD and other hemp-derived cannabinoids into your daily life to help you deal with anxiety, insomnia, pain, depression, stress, and more. Our store owner, Geoff, got the idea to start the store based on his broken toe. Back in 2019, he broke his toe and unfortunately there is not much you can do with a broken toe, other than give it time to heal. However, it can be painful! Geoff found a CBD topical salve and used it on his toe, and the CBD salve helped take away the pain so he could still get around while it healed. This somewhat minor issue introduced Geoff to the new(ish) world of CBD and thus Apothecary Atl was born!

However, he didn't want a store that was just like all the other stores - expensive, with a limited supply of products. He wanted quality products from many brands and companies, and he wanted to be fair with his prices. Since there is very little official regulation in the CBD world, he came up with criteria to help protect customers from shady brands just hopping on the bandwagon to make a quick buck. Just some of those criteria include 3rd party lab reports on all products and confirming that the companies we work with have appropriate business licenses and insurances.

When you walk into our store, it might seem overwhelming - shelves full of different products! This is why it's important to enlist the help of one of our knowledgeable staff - we can help assist you to find something to help, or at least point you in the right direction!

On to the most common question - is this legal? Yes! We couldn't operate a store if it wasn't! The 2018 Farm Bill paved the way for our business. It removed hemp from being listed as a controlled substance and provided guidelines on hemp farming and processing. Hemp-derived CBD is handled now the way vitamins and supplements are handled.

How does CBD work? The human body has many different systems, one of which is the recently discovered "endocannabinoid system" in the brain and nervous system. It influences communication between neurons and synapses, including those involved with eating & digestion, anxiety, learning and memory, sleep, temperature regulation, pain control, inflammatory and immune responses, metabolism and more. There are hundreds of different cannabinoids that can interact and help regulate these functions to provide health benefits. While every person is different, our staff can help you find products to address issues you and your loved ones are facing.

We look forward to giving you more information in our future posts. Come see us in store or review our products online.
